About Us
At Maxton, we believe everyone matters.

We help individuals who exhibit high-risk behaviours, trauma, and mental illness; mainly those on life licenses, IPP Prisoners and those on recall.

We have strong links to professional agencies and can liaise with our client's legal representatives to ensure their requirements are fully met for parole. We can attend Oral hearing as support and supply extra guidance and friendly support which is often invaluable. We are there for our clients every step of the way, providing a friendly face and a helping hand to guide them as they progress towards release.

Before release...
The transition from prison life back into the community is one of anticipation, frustration and sometimes reservation. Our work starts well before, with the right guidance, the barriers can be broken down and the fears curtailed. For some, it can take months, even years to adjust, but we can be there helping at every step of the journey.
We help encourage our clients to develop their own personal network of informal support. For some of our more 'serious' clients, we can even provide (voluntary) one-to-one ‘Intense Support’ for up to 6 hours.
Life after prision...
Many of our clients need counselling and therapy for long periods to readapt to living in society after serving their prison sentence. Many have thoughts of not deserving to belong in society, feeling equal to others, or no longer being able to recognise themselves. Low self-esteem and disorientation are "typical after prison" and can make the ex-prisoner vulnerable to reoffending. At Maxton, we understand that it helps when our clients feel like they can find a place so they can carry on with life and eventually find acceptance; keeping things bottled up or denying the sadness can affect a person’s well-being.
Our trained Counsellors are available for one-to-one support (telephone) should our clients request the service. Referral through the GP to Community Mental Health Services can sometimes take weeks. Maxton provides this from the day of release.

Helping our clients
Our recent feedback found 94% of our clients found we had a positive effect on them not reoffending. These statistics have been consistent over the past 10 years.

We are equipped with the knowledge of local organisations that can offer further support if required. We will work collectively with DWP to support people back to work and with all professional agencies to make our client's life outside of prison, possible.
Meet the team
Our objective is to help build strong, consistent, and trusting relationships with our clients that will help unlock their potential and enable them to make those positive changes.
